Cancelling a booking
Cancellations are processed by an agent rather than through the website, so that the fare rules on your specific ticket can be checked before anything irreversible happens. Call +1 855 657 9056 with your booking reference. Lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
A cancellation is only effective once we confirm it back to you in writing. An email or voicemail asking us to cancel is not a cancellation until you have that confirmation — if your departure is close, please call.
The 24-hour window
Many tickets originating in the United States can be cancelled without penalty within 24 hours of being issued, provided the departure is at least seven days away. Where your ticket qualifies, we will cancel it at no charge and refund the fare in full.
This is a rule of the airline and the ticketing jurisdiction, not something we can extend. It does not apply to every fare, and it does not apply once the 24 hours have passed. Your agent will tell you at the time of booking whether your ticket carries this protection.
After the 24-hour window
What you get back depends entirely on the fare you bought:
- Refundable fares — the fare returns to your original payment method, less any airline penalty and our post-ticketing fee.
- Partially refundable fares — taxes and certain government charges are often recoverable even when the base fare is not. We will always check this for you.
- Non-refundable fares — the fare cannot be returned as cash. Many airlines will instead hold the value as a credit for future travel, usually with an expiry date and restricted to the same passenger.
- Basic economy and promotional fares — these frequently have no value at all after the free-cancellation window. Please assume this is the case unless your agent has told you otherwise.
Charges deducted from a refund
- The airline's cancellation penalty, set by your fare rules.
- Our post-ticketing fee — see post-ticketing fees.
- The original service fee, which is not returned once a ticket has been issued.
You will be given the net refund figure before we submit anything, so there is no surprise at the end.
How long a refund takes
A refund passes through two organisations after we submit it, and neither timeline is under our control. As a rough guide:
- Airline approval: commonly 7 to 30 days, occasionally longer for tickets involving several carriers.
- Card issuer posting: typically one or two billing cycles after the airline releases the funds.
Refunds are always returned to the card or account used for the original payment. We cannot redirect a refund to a different card, a different person, or a bank transfer. If that card has since been closed, contact your bank — the issuer is normally still obliged to pass the money on to you.
When the airline cancels
If the airline cancels your flight or makes a significant schedule change, you are generally entitled to a rebooking or a refund of the unused portion regardless of your fare type. We will handle that claim for you and charge no fee of our own for doing so. Any statutory compensation is a matter between you and the operating carrier.
No-shows
If you do not board and have not cancelled beforehand, most fares lose their entire value, including onward and return segments on the same ticket. Call us before departure even if you are certain you cannot travel — a cancellation almost always preserves more value than a no-show.
Insurance
Where cancellation is caused by illness, bereavement or another insured event, your travel insurer may cover costs that the airline will not. Keep our cancellation confirmation and any airline correspondence, as insurers usually ask for both.
